Description
SUNY Upstate Medical University seeks qualified vendors to provide remote medical coding services, anticipating approximately 6,500 coder hours annually and 32,000 hours over five years, with an expected need for three to four full-time coders. Coders will work alongside in-house staff using Epic and 3M platforms and must be experienced in inpatient, outpatient surgery, observation, and emergency facility coding. The solicitation specifies productivity expectations by patient type and requires coders to meet stated experience, certification, accuracy, responsiveness, and availability requirements. Upstate may award agreements to as many as four vendors, with work assigned through a prioritized call-down list based on bill rates. No minimum number of billable hours is guaranteed. Bidders must submit a complete response addressing the solicitation requirements, including at least three healthcare-facility references and a separate financial proposal. The package requires a notarized, fully executed proposal; one original hard copy; and one USB drive containing a scanned proposal and the original Excel financial workbook. The solicitation also requires certifications, diversity and subcontractor forms, and applicable workers' compensation and disability coverage evidence. The anticipated contract start is April 2027, and the anticipated term is five years.
