Description
The New York State Office of Indigent Legal Services is soliciting applications from eligible New York counties for initiatives to improve the quality of representation in Family Court matters under County Law Article 18-B. Eligible projects may include caseload relief; hiring attorneys, staff, or specialized professionals; timely-access-to-counsel programs; interdisciplinary representation; training and continuing legal education; community outreach; and related infrastructure costs such as technology, office supplies, equipment, furniture, space, legal reference materials, electronic legal research, and recruitment. Awards are expected to range from $200,000 to $500,000 annually, requested in $50,000 increments, with a statewide annual funding cap of $3,000,000. Applications must identify the county, authorized county contact, public defense provider or providers, requested funding, a detailed budget using Attachment A, and a narrative describing how the funding will improve Family Court representation. Applications are limited to one per eligible county and must be submitted by an authorized county official or designated employee.
