Description
NASA Johnson Space Center is conducting market research for state-of-the-art audio distribution systems that could be ruggedized for reliable operation in human-spaceflight spacecraft and induced environments. Respondents may propose a complete spacecraft audio system, a subsystem providing partial functionality, or software and/or an intellectual-property core hosted on other spacecraft avionics hardware. NASA is seeking capability information from commercial, automotive, aerospace, and military audio communication system manufacturers, including information on functionality, size, weight, power, interfaces, processor platforms, reliability features, and relevant design elements. Potential future work may include electronic circuit redesign, replacement of vulnerable components with radiation-tolerant devices, and enhancements to software development and hardware manufacturing processes to comply with applicable standards. Responses may address small-business subcontracting or participation goals, barriers to small-business participation, and teaming strategies. Respondents should provide appropriate documentation, literature, brochures, references, and the attached capability questions and responses workbook. This is a sources-sought notice for information and planning purposes only, not a solicitation; no solicitation currently exists.
