Description
Idaho National Laboratory is offering a UV-fluorescent tracer additive created from xanthene powder for licensing. The chemically inert tracer enables workers to use a UV light source to identify hydrofluoric acid contact on skin, clothing, work surfaces, and equipment exteriors after handling tasks. Fluorescence is intended to support early decontamination and first aid before symptoms appear, while also improving detection of industrial leaks and spills. The technology is intended to complement, rather than replace, personal protective equipment, engineering controls, and established handling procedures. Potential applications include petroleum refining, semiconductor etching, glass manufacturing, pharmaceutical synthesis, mineral processing, and laboratory research.
