Description
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s National Weather Service is conducting market research for potential replacements for the legacy NOAAPort Satellite Broadcast Network, which is expected to be deactivated as early as August 31, 2027. The contemplated capability would exchange, ingest, process, and distribute high-volume National Weather Service data and products—including forecasts, warnings, radar, satellite imagery, observations, and numerical weather model output—to geographically dispersed external users. The Government is seeking information on cloud-based, terrestrial, satellite, hybrid, and other commercially available architectures supporting at least 100 Mbps, low latency, high reliability and availability, dynamic prioritization of life-safety traffic, resilient fallback connectivity, security and data integrity, open standards, and integration with the HIVE and CIRRUS environments through APIs and/or MQTT. Respondents should address technical and operational approaches, migration and user onboarding, interoperability, contracting models, and rough-order-of-magnitude one-time and recurring costs. Responses should include respondent information, relevant contracting vehicles or SBIR/STTR information if applicable, answers to the RFI questions, and optional supporting reference material and case studies.
