Description
The City of Alexandria is soliciting bids to establish a contract for operation and maintenance services at its indoor and outdoor swimming pools, mini-pools, and wading pools. The scope includes pool opening and closing, winterization, cleaning, weekly service visits, filtration-system maintenance, water testing and balancing, equipment and plumbing repairs, debris removal, pool-cover maintenance, bathhouse work, and whitecoat or plaster and tile replacement. The contractor must provide all labor, supervision, equipment, tools, parts, materials, licenses, permits, and related services. Work will be performed at Chinquapin and Minnie Howard aquatics facilities and at Old Town, Warwick, and Memorial pools, with additional inactive pools serviced when requested. The initial performance period is one year from award, with up to four successive one-year renewal periods. Bidders must have at least three years of commercial swimming-pool maintenance and repair experience, provide a Virginia Class B contractor's license and Certified Pool & Spa Operator certification, and submit at least three similar-project references. The contract is subject to Alexandria's living-wage requirements and requires specified insurance coverage, including general liability, automobile liability, workers' compensation, umbrella liability, and pollution liability.
