Description
The University of Southern Mississippi is soliciting a lump-sum proposal from a qualified commercial flooring contractor to replace existing carpet on the third floor of the Joseph Anderson Cook Memorial Library. The work includes field verification; removal and disposal of existing carpet, adhesives, and wall base; floor preparation and moisture testing; installation of Kinetex textile composite flooring, Roppe 4 1/2-inch rubber wall base, transition strips, reducers, and ADA-compliant adaptors; furniture relocation and protection; cleanup; testing; and incidental work required for a complete installation. The contractor must have at least five years of documented experience with similar commercial flooring installations and be a member of FCICA and/or certified by CFI. The bid must include qualifications, three references, applicable flooring association or manufacturer certifications, a Certificate of Responsibility number or qualifying statement, a statement of deviations, and lump-sum pricing. A mandatory pre-bid meeting is required, and the work may begin December 11, 2026, with completion required by January 15, 2027. The solicitation requires a five-percent bid bond or certified check; payment and performance bonds equal to 100 percent of the contract amount are required after award. A minimum two-year labor and material warranty and $1,000,000 general liability insurance are also required.
