Description
This solicitation from the Public Building Commission of Chicago (PBC) for Contract C1631, part of the Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) Capital Program, involves the reconstruction of alleys in various locations under Package 8. The scope of work includes the reconstruction of alley sewers, subgrade, and pavement using recycled construction materials and methods approved by the City of Chicago. Specific tasks include full depth alley pavement reconstruction, proper handling and disposal of onsite material, installation of portland cement concrete base course, hot-mix asphalt surface course, sewer and drainage structures, sewer cleaning and televising, vortex restrictors, concrete curb and gutter, concrete sidewalks and ADA ramps, concrete driveways, concrete garage aprons, and permeable concrete block pavers. The contractor will also be responsible for bedding and void opening aggregates for permeable concrete block pavers, geotechnical fabric, topsoil, and hydraulic seeding. Key requirements include the preparation of a Phasing and Logistics Plan within 30 days of the Notice to Proceed (NTP) for approval by CDOT and PBC. Critical submittals, such as those for sewer and drainage structures and pavers, must also be provided within 30 days of the NTP. The on-site construction work at each alley location is expected to be completed within 45 calendar days for alleys without concrete block pavers, and 60 days for alleys that include concrete block pavers.
