Description
The Defense University Research Instrumentation Program provides grants to eligible accredited U.S. institutions of higher education for acquiring major research equipment or instrumentation that supports research and research-related education in areas important to national defense. Eligible applicants must have degree-granting programs in science, mathematics, and/or engineering; for-profit educational institutions and federally funded research and development centers are ineligible. Equipment requests may cover a system of items serving a common research purpose. Purely instructional equipment and general-purpose computing facilities are not eligible. Approximately $28 million is anticipated for the program, subject to appropriations. Typical awards range from $50,000 to $3 million, and the expected period of performance is 12 months. Applications must include a technical proposal, project abstract, budget and budget justification, facilities and resources information, and required Grants.gov forms and supporting disclosures. Technical proposals are limited to 25 pages and must use 12-point Times New Roman, single spacing, and one-inch margins; attachments must be PDFs. Applications are submitted electronically through Grants.gov.
