Description
The Mobile County Public School System is soliciting sealed bids for two fire alarm upgrade projects: Semmes Elementary Fire Alarm Upgrade (A/E# 26-043) and Faulkner Career Tech Fire Alarm Upgrade (A/E# 26-044). Bidders must submit proposals on forms furnished by the architect or copies thereof. Bidders exceeding the applicable state licensing threshold must hold an Alabama general contractor license and display the current license number on the sealed envelope. A cashier’s check or bid bond payable to the Board of School Commissioners of Mobile County, equal to at least 5% of the bid amount and capped at $10,000, must accompany the proposal. Performance and payment bonds and evidence of insurance are required at contract signing. A combined mandatory pre-bid conference applies to both projects, and the attending employee must have qualifications and experience relevant to the construction work. Nonresident bidders must also submit the required attorney opinion concerning their home-state public-contract preferences.
