Description
The City seeks qualified individual attorneys and law firms to provide independent hearing officer services for appeals under City Code and employment discipline rules. Assignments may include hearings involving special assessments, nuisance abatements, and employee suspensions, demotions, or dismissals. Hearing officers conduct proceedings, hear testimony, may issue subpoenas, and prepare written recommendations or decisions as applicable. The City expects services to be provided on an as-needed basis. Hearings may be held at City Hall or remotely by video conference, at the City Attorney's discretion. The stated 2027 rate is $185 per hour, inclusive of travel and related expenses, with a $1,000 cap per hearing assignment unless the City gives prior written authorization. The panel may be extended for up to four additional one-year terms; selection does not guarantee assignments.
