Description
Berkeley County Schools seeks a qualified contractor to convert a District-owned, decommissioned 2009 Thomas/Freightliner 53-passenger school bus into a Mobile Family and Community Engagement Center. The scope includes interior demolition and preparation; flexible functional zones; at least three technology-ready workstations; accessible design; secure storage; seating; durable flooring and finishes; a District-furnished 48-inch display monitor with an electrically actuated ceiling mount; electrical distribution and an appropriately sized generator; ductless mini-split heating and cooling; and physical infrastructure for District and off-site mobile internet connectivity. The existing wheelchair lift and accessible entry must remain operational. The contractor must provide a firm fixed-price proposal with an itemized cost breakdown, proposed floor plan, project schedule, vehicle pickup and delivery arrangements, inspection documentation, warranty information, and required compliance materials. Exterior and interior graphics are excluded from the base conversion scope and will be procured separately. The completed conversion, testing, demonstrations, training, and closeout documentation must be delivered no later than May 3, 2027. A mandatory in-person pre-proposal meeting and bus inspection is required for proposal submission.
