Description
The City of Gaffney is soliciting sealed proposals for the design and construction of an addition to an existing firefighter burn building. The scope includes providing all materials, labor, insurance, and design; adding nine 40-foot one-trip containers and one 20-foot one-trip container; creating an elevator-shaft simulation with floor openings and a roof access hatch; and constructing two burn rooms on the third and fourth floors. Additional work includes providing access to all floors, seven steel doors, eight operable windows, interior switchback stairs, a firefighter retrieval hatch, a roof access ladder, floor drains, interior walls, safety railings, a parapet-style fourth-floor railing, a garage and door prop, relocation of an existing roof prop, a second-story railing with a 10-foot swing gate, and two openings for a fire-department-provided ventilation fan. The contractor must provide connector specifications, obtain required permits, and provide an insurance certificate naming the City as an additional insured before work begins. Proposals will be evaluated based on quality, suitability for the Fire Department's intended use, warranty, ease of use, and price.
