Description
The U.S. Air Force is seeking a contractor to install one continuous 12-strand, 150-foot single-mode fiber optic cable at an air traffic control tower. The work includes routing and securing the cable between the first-floor telecommunications rack and observation-deck equipment rack, providing service loops, installing two rack-mountable lightguide interconnect unit enclosures, fusion-splicing LC-APC pigtails, and supplying splice trays, sleeves, cable-management hardware, and related accessories. The contractor must also remove and dispose of the existing multimode fiber run. The contractor must test all 12 strands bidirectionally at 1310 nm and 1550 nm using an optical time-domain reflectometer and optical loss test set, complete labeling in accordance with ANSI/TIA-606-C, and provide test results, as-built drawings, and manufacturer warranty documentation. Work requires coordination within an active air traffic control tower; personnel must be U.S. citizens and pass background checks for unescorted installation access. The acquisition is a total small-business set-aside and will be evaluated on a lowest-priced technically acceptable basis.
