Description
NASA/NSSC has a requirement for ORCAlloy-21 Atomized and Coated Powder. This is a sole source requirement intended for Powder Alloy Corporation, as they are the sole provider of this specific powder. The powder must be produced using vacuum or inert induction melting utilizing gas atomization in argon. The composition must adhere to specific element percentages for Nickel, Chromium, Cobalt, Rhenium, Tungsten, Titanium, Aluminum, Niobium, Carbon, Sulfur, Phosphorus, Silicon, Boron, Hydrogen, Oxygen, and Nitrogen, with verification methods per ASTM standards. The powder particle size distribution must target specific ranges for DED Cut and L-PBFCut, with limitations on particles larger than +140 mesh and smaller than +325 mesh. Powders shall be primarily spherical, free of significant satellite particles, and have smooth surfaces. Post-production additions for controlling particle size or chemistry are not allowed. The powder must be handled and processed under an inert atmosphere and packaged in air-tight, inert gas-filled containers or drums no larger than 20kg each. The ORCAlloy-21 powder shall be coated using nano-scale Yttria Oxide at 0.45% with sufficient coverage. Deliverables include a minimum of 1,000 pounds of ORCAlloy-21 per the specified composition and L-PBF cut, delivered to MSFC within 14 weeks of authority to proceed. Certificates of Conformance (CoC) specifying lot number, production date, facility location, and compliance verification are required for each powder lot, including blended lots.
