The California Department of Parks and Recreation is soliciting proposals for a 10-year concession contract to operate a historic-style specialty retail store at Old Town San Diego State Historic Park (OTSDSHP). The concession will be located at 2637 San Diego Avenue, a 3,200 square foot building with a 7,500 square foot patio. The successful proposer will be responsible for developing, operating, and maintaining the retail operation, which must reflect the historical period of 1821-1872, with a focus on the Mexican Period (1821-1848). The concessionaire must provide an Operation Plan, Facility Plan, and Interpretive Plan, and must invest a minimum of $50,000 in facility improvements by the end of contract year three. The annual rent is the greater of $50,000 or 8% of gross receipts, plus a 2% Facility Maintenance Improvement Account fee. The contract term is five years, with an option to extend for an additional five years. Proposals must be submitted by October 14, 2026, and must include a proposal bond of $500, a completed DPR 398 questionnaire, and a USB with electronic copies of all documents.
