Description
The District of Squamish requires professional archaeological consulting services for the Pemberton-Laurelwood Bridge Project, which will construct a multimodal bridge across the Mamquam Blind Channel and provide a second entrance to Downtown Squamish from Highway 99. The project is anticipated to involve ground disturbance within the traditional territory of the Skwxwu7mesh Uxwumixw (Squamish Nation), and Archaeological Impact Assessments under the Heritage Conservation Act are required. The successful proponent will provide archaeological services meeting provincial regulatory requirements, BC Archaeology Branch guidelines, and First Nations heritage-management policies and protocols. A District-wide GIS-based Archaeological Overview Assessment is nearing completion; relevant project information will be provided to the successful proponent after award, and no previous archaeological studies have been completed for the site. The work will report to District Engineering staff.
