Description
The Florida Department of Environmental Protection seeks a contractor to conduct submerged cultural-resource investigations in designated areas of Lignumvitae Key Botanical State Park, Indian Key Historic State Park, and John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park. The work includes surveying approximately 225 acres around channel markers and approximately 74 acres around Indian Key, as well as survey areas around coral-protection-zone markers. The contractor must use an integrated system that includes a magnetometer, sidescan sonar, subbottom profiler, depth finder, and GPS, and must avoid disturbing submerged vegetation or substrate. Before fieldwork, the contractor must prepare a research design proposal and obtain approval from the Florida Division of Historical Resources, as well as secure the required archaeological research permit for work on state lands. Deliverables include a detailed archaeological report, collected investigation data, a multi-feature geodatabase with compliant metadata, survey-track data, and documentation of newly identified or updated archaeological sites. Services and deliverables are due by June 1, 2027. The solicitation prohibits subcontracting services.
