Description
The Town of Canton is seeking Statements of Qualifications from professional artists to develop and install a public art mural on an approximately 12-foot-high by 50-foot-wide partition wall within the rehabilitated 225 Park Street building. The mural should create a welcoming, engaging, and family-friendly environment and complement the facility's use as a flexible community gathering space. The preferred concept may incorporate both faces of the wall, which is under roof and visible from Park Street and the building's primary gathering area. The selected artist will collaborate with the Town and project team on a concept, scope, and schedule after selection. The artist will be responsible for design and professional fees, materials, paint, coatings, equipment, supplies, travel, transportation, installation labor, and other incidental costs within the not-to-exceed commission budget of $16,500. Applicants must submit a letter of interest, a portfolio of no more than 10 relevant completed works, and an artist resume or biography with two to three references. A mural concept is not required with the qualifications submission; concept development will occur after selection and contracting.
