Description
The Town of Kernersville is soliciting professional consulting services for a feasibility study of potential alignments extending the Piedmont Greenway from East Forsyth High School to the existing Kerner Mill Creek Greenway at Kernersville's Pope Park. The study will evaluate two multi-use path options serving schools, commercial and residential areas, and recreation facilities, including potential right-of-way acquisitions and utility relocations. The scope includes project management, public outreach, existing-conditions assessment, mapping and GIS needs assessment, demographic, health, and equity analysis, design standards for lighting, multi-use paths, crosswalks, pedestrian safety, ADA accessibility, trees, landscaping, and hardscapes, alternative concepts and route recommendations, cost estimates, funding strategies, maintenance planning, and preparation of staff, public draft, and final plan documents. At least one public outreach event is required, and the completed study must follow NCDOT Express Design Guidelines. Subconsultants are permitted. The proposed contract term is 12 months with lump-sum payment.
