The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is soliciting twenty new and unused implantable medical-grade primary lithium batteries using Li/SVO-CFx chemistry: ten high-rate units and ten medium-rate units. The high-rate batteries must meet specified capacity, voltage, pulse-discharge, stainless-steel case, terminal, sealing, weight, volume, dimensional, temperature, and manufacturing-lot requirements. The medium-rate batteries must meet specified capacity, voltage, sustained-discharge and pulsing, titanium-case, terminal, sealing, weight, volume, dimensional, temperature, and manufacturing-lot requirements. No specific manufacturer, brand, model, or part number is required; any product meeting all salient characteristics is acceptable. Each battery must have at least two years of remaining life from manufacture at delivery. The contractor must provide specifications, safety data sheets, and other applicable product documentation at no additional charge; package the batteries in accordance with applicable lithium-battery safety and transportation regulations, including DOT and IATA requirements; mark each package with the lot number and manufacture date; and provide advance shipping information and coordinate delivery logistics with the Government point of contact. The batteries are passive supply items with no embedded software, network connection, or data-storage or transmission capability.
