Description
NASA's Science Mission Directorate is soliciting proposals for the Habitable Worlds Observatory Instrument Concept Assessments (HWO-ICA) program, as part of the Research Opportunities in Space and Earth Sciences (ROSES) 2025. The objective is to support maturation of the HWO mission concept by developing and analyzing innovative instrument concepts, including their scientific opportunity, performance, engineering feasibility, footprint, technology maturity, gaps, and associated risks. The program supports two categories: Category 1 for U.S.-based institutions to conduct instrument concept assessments over a nominal ~2-year period, and Category 2 for U.S.-based individuals participating in ongoing instrument concept programs led by non-U.S. institutions, for up to ~2 years. Selected proposals will be funded via firm-fixed-price contracts or interagency agreements. The solicitation does not support flight hardware development or imply participation in future HWO mission development.
