Description

The National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) is soliciting applications for the Tribal Colleges Extension Program - Capacity Applications (TCEP-CA) for Fiscal Year 2026. This program, under Assistance Listing 10.517, aims to support informal, community-based extension projects that address critical topics for Tribal communities, including agriculture, youth development, economic development, healthy lifestyles, and natural resources. This Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) initiates a new four-year continuation funding cycle. The purpose of TCEP-CA is to enhance agricultural productivity, community resilience, economic growth, and youth development within Tribal communities by extending the reach of research and technology innovations and strengthening informal, local educational programs. Projects should be community-driven and address local needs, with potential topics including food systems, community vitality, workforce development, environmental quality, public health, and engaging Tribal youth. NIFA encourages projects that incorporate innovative agricultural technologies, such as artificial intelligence, to equip Tribal communities with the skills needed for a digital society and expose them to related career pathways. Eligibility for this grant program is restricted to colleges and universities designated as 1994 Institutions by legislation. A list of eligible institutions is provided within the NOFO. There is no cost-sharing or matching requirement for this program, although it is encouraged. Applications must be submitted electronically through Grants.gov.
