Description
The U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT), Maritime Administration (MARAD), is procuring high-performance synthetic mooring lines and high tenacity polyester 12-strand lines for ships and barges in the National Defense Reserve Fleet. The synthetic lines must be 12-strand HMPE fiber construction with a minimum tensile strength of 79,600 lbs, a nominal diameter of 7/8", and weigh no more than 45 lbs per 100 feet. The polyester lines are specified as 1-1/2" diameter Samson HTP-12 or equal high tenacity polyester 12-strand line. The synthetic lines require a six-foot eyesplice in one end with a tubular cordura or similar chafing material. Delivery is required to the Suisun Bay Reserve Fleet in Benicia, CA.
