Description
The City of Grand Rapids is soliciting proposals for a Smart Tree Inventory covering an estimated 95,000 public trees across approximately 605 major and local street miles and nearly 2,000 acres of public parks and cemeteries. The work must use advanced technologies such as LiDAR, high-resolution cameras, machine learning, and three-dimensional scanning to locate and characterize trees, collect species and structural data, calculate leaf area and ecosystem services, identify outliers, and produce a high-accuracy digital record of the urban forest. The selected provider must supply at least five high-resolution georeferenced images and an updated 360-degree street view for each tree, create an approximately one-inch-accurate three-dimensional digital twin for each tree, conduct professional arborist field assessments for identified outliers, and provide risk ratings, maintenance recommendations, observations, and defect information. Deliverables must be available through a cloud-based platform supporting visualization, editing, filtering, work orders, public access, unlimited users and records, i-Tree benefits, and export to ESRI-compatible shapefiles or geodatabases. The provider must also submit a quality-control plan, demonstrate comparable project experience, provide three recent references, and complete the inventory within two years of contract agreement.
