Description
The U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center requires advanced research and development support for synthetic biology tools and platforms addressing environmental sensing, critical-material supply-chain security, and sustainable biomanufacturing. The scope includes synthetic cell systems using two-component signaling; molecular engineering of CO2-utilizing yeast with AI-optimized Rubisco variants; engineered protein chromatography for selective rare-earth-element capture; and genetically encoded conductive protein nanowires for bioelectronic sensing and energy assimilation. Optional work includes bio-functionalized carbon quantum-dot sensing platforms and microbiologically induced calcite precipitation for geotechnical applications. The agency states that Bioconscientia, LLC has the specialized personnel, laboratory infrastructure, proprietary knowledge, and combined expertise required for the work and intends to procure from only one source. This is a presolicitation notice and notice of intent to sole source, not a request for quote; no solicitation will be issued. Responsible sources may submit a capability statement for consideration in determining whether a competitive procurement should be conducted.
