Description
Montana State University’s Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering is considering a sole-source purchase from Hartwig Inc. for a complete Okuma LB 2000/Okuma LB2000EX-III lathe. The stated total contract value is $195,000, and the notice is not a request for competitive proposals; vendors may instead submit evidence that they can provide an equivalent product or service meeting all listed requirements. The required equipment is a CNC-capable, single-spindle lathe with live milling tooling, a minimum 10-inch chuck, at least a 12-inch maximum turning diameter, 10-horsepower main spindle, 5,000-rpm maximum main spindle speed, tool setter, glass-scale capability, and a turret with at least 12 stations, 5-horsepower milling spindle power, and 5,000-rpm milling speed. It must machine tool steels and titanium alloys, meet specified X-, Z-, and C-axis repeatability requirements, operate without a network connection, integrate with existing Mastercam and GibbsCAM software, and fit through a 70.5-inch-wide by 83-inch-tall doorway. Interested vendors must submit a thorough written description of their equivalent product or service through the eMACS procurement system.
