Description
The City of Thornton is soliciting sealed bids from qualified contractors for construction of the Thornton Water Project—Fiber Optic Installation, Project No. 12-777XFO. The work includes approximately 70.6 miles of 72-strand trunk fiber optic cable in existing conduit and pull boxes between Fort Collins and Thornton; approximately 1,200 feet of 24-strand branch fiber cable serving six remote locations; and approximately 1,400 feet of horizontal directional drilling for three 2-inch conduits, fiber installation, six handholes, splicing, and terminations. Related work includes traffic control, conduit work, restoration, seeding, and temporary cattle fencing. Bidders must attend the mandatory pre-bid conference, complete the required non-disclosure agreement and pre-qualification questionnaire to obtain access to the plans and specifications, and submit the City-provided bid proposal form with bid security equal to at least 5% of the bid amount. The successful bidder must provide 100% performance and labor-and-material payment bonds and required insurance after award. The solicitation requires recent, similar construction experience, including three representative projects with values of at least $500,000, and includes extensive qualification, safety, bonding, insurance, and litigation-history requirements.
