Description
The United States Marine Corps is requesting one Fox Professional 750 bassoon. The instrument must meet specified characteristics, including a Bb1–F5 range, A=440 tuning, a hand-selected and aged mountain maple body, modern thick-wall construction, hybrid bore design, long-bell compact configuration, silver-plated hardware, high E and Ab–Bb trill keys, and included wooden hand rest, neck strap ring, balance hanger, and compact-style case. The instrument must produce sound that blends with the ensemble and enhances the bassoon section. The requirement is for a supply purchase with no incidental services. The bassoon must be manufactured in the United States or comply with the applicable DFARS Buy American/free-trade requirements. Quotations will be evaluated on price, compliance with the salient characteristics and terms, specified delivery date, and satisfactory past performance. The determination document limits the brand requirement to Fox Bassoons because other manufacturers did not meet the required characteristics and standard of excellence.
