Description
The U.S. Department of Agriculture, Foreign Agricultural Service, is soliciting applications to support the Norman E. Borlaug International Agricultural Science and Technology Fellowship Program for Fiscal Year 2026. This opportunity is open to State cooperative institutions or other U.S. colleges and universities. The program aims to fund applied research, extension, and education collaborations between U.S. researchers and their foreign counterparts from selected emerging market economies. The program seeks to strengthen trade and expand markets with current and potential trading partners by facilitating science-based policy changes that address sanitary and phytosanitary trade issues and other barriers to trade. The goal is to increase the capacity of participating countries in agricultural research, extension, and international trade. Successful applicants will design and implement research programs, including leadership and communication training, to help participants better communicate research findings and implement science-based agricultural policies in their home countries. The funding instrument is a grant, with an estimated total program funding of $2,625,000. Up to six awards are expected, with a ceiling of $750,000 per award, approximately $75,000 per participant.
