The Southwest Minnesota Arts Council's Equipment and Facilities Improvement grant program provides up to $10,000 for equipment purchases and facility improvements that strengthen an organization's capacity to serve regional arts needs. Eligible requests may include sound and lighting equipment, structural and accessibility improvements, office equipment, and storage. Non-arts organizations may apply when the project directly supports community arts needs. Grants are capped at $50,000 per organization over 10 years and $20,000 in Southwest Minnesota Arts Council grants per fiscal year. Eligible applicants include qualifying 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations with Minnesota Articles of Incorporation, official Minnesota city, county, or state government units, and eligible applicants using a fiscal sponsor. Projects must begin no earlier than February 1, 2027, and conclude by June 30, 2028. New construction, real estate purchases, endowments, fundraising, out-of-state activities, and primarily educational school-system projects are ineligible. Applications are evaluated on project feasibility, organizational merit and artistic quality, and organizational impact. A facility cooperative agreement is required when the applicant does not own its facility; a fiscal sponsor agreement is required when applicable.
