The City of Nevada, Missouri, Parks and Recreation Department is soliciting proposals from qualified professional artists or artist teams to design and install a permanent, large-scale exterior mural on a building at 100 N. Cedar Street. The mural wall is approximately 70 feet long by 30 feet high and must celebrate Nevada’s history, heritage, culture, community, and future while complementing the surrounding architecture and creating a landmark public-art destination. The selected artist will meet with City representatives, review historical and community photographs supplied by the City, visit the site, develop an original concept, submit a full-color digital rendering, present the design, make up to two requested revisions, obtain written approval, prepare the surface, furnish paints, primers, coatings, equipment, lifts or scaffolding, protect adjacent property, install the mural, apply UV- and weather-resistant protective coatings, and clean the site. Proposals must include qualifications, mural experience, a portfolio with at least five photographs of previous work, three professional references, a project approach, preliminary concept materials, schedule, lump-sum budget, and materials information. The contractor must maintain $250,000 general liability insurance and provide a certificate naming the City as an additional insured before work begins.
