The Pennsylvania Department of Education is awarding Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Fund II (ESSER II) grants to school districts and charter schools to address the impact of COVID-19. Greenwood School District, a small rural district, is applying for $434,082 in ESSER II funds. The funds will be used for four main purposes: (1) upgrading educational technology, including upgrading to WiFi 6, increasing wireless access point density, and installing outdoor access points; (2) school facility repairs and improvements, including a comprehensive construction project to add classroom space and improve social distancing; (3) HVAC improvements to enhance indoor air quality; and (4) purchasing a communication platform to improve connectivity with families during remote learning. The district plans to use these funds over the 2021-2022 and 2022-2023 school years.
