Description
Dalton State College is seeking qualified insurance suppliers to provide secondary coverage for all student athletic participants, trainers, coaches, and managers. This coverage should extend to their travel for school-supervised activities and sponsored NAIA activities. A separate Blanket Accident Only Policy is also desired, which would be available to individuals who do not have a primary insurance policy, with the cost borne by the student-athlete. This is to ensure all participants have primary insurance for accidents. The coverage is intended to be effective from August 1, 2026, to July 31, 2027, with options for two additional annual renewal periods. The scope of work details specific insurance coverage requirements, including medical limits, deductibles, benefit periods, and coordination with other insurance providers. The supplier must handle and process all claims within ten business days, provide explanations of benefits, and offer a dedicated point of contact for service issues. Additionally, suppliers are expected to provide quarterly and annual reports of claims experience, maintain a primary insurance verification system, offer a Pharmacy Discount Program, and have Electronic Medical Records capabilities. Historical claim data indicates that many students are from outside the local geographical area, and the underwriter must be prepared to waive the requirement for athletes to see their primary provider first, paying claims as if they had seen a primary provider.
