Description
The National Energy Technology Laboratory is seeking industry partners to advance and commercialize a patented adsorptive process for recovering heavy rare earth elements and critical minerals—including gallium, germanium, vanadium, cobalt, and nickel—from coal, coal refuse, mine tailings, acid mine drainage, and other coal-derived or industrial streams. The process combines physical feedstock pre-concentration through flotation or sonication-enhanced flotation with adsorption columns and pH-swing regeneration to produce concentrated, high-purity materials. The technology is designed for continuous operation, short sorption contact times of less than five minutes, high selectivity, low pressure drop, regenerability, and reduced chemical and energy consumption. Interested entities must submit a statement of interest describing their company and address, a point of contact with address and telephone number, and relevant expertise or facilities. Potential collaboration may involve licensing and/or cooperative research and development under nondisclosure agreements; this notice is not a procurement.
