Description
The Department of Energy is accepting applications from eligible states and Indian Tribes for formula grants to improve electric grid resilience against disruptive events, including extreme weather, wildfires, and natural disasters. Grant funds are intended to be distributed through subawards to eligible entities for resilience projects. Eligible measures include weatherization, fire prevention, monitoring and control technologies, undergrounding electrical equipment, utility pole management, power-line relocation or reconductoring, vegetation management, distributed energy resources such as microgrids and battery-storage components, adaptive protection, advanced modeling, and hardening or replacement of grid infrastructure. Emergency backup generation is also allowable under the amended requirements. The current amendment opens applications for FY 2025 and FY 2026 allocations. Applicants must submit a Program Narrative and supporting application components, including the federal assistance application, environmental questionnaire, lobbying disclosure or certification, appointment documentation, pre-award information, cost-match information, and other applicable disclosures or commitment letters. The solicitation anticipates a five-year performance period. States and Indian Tribes must issue subawards for resilience projects and comply with applicable cost-match and program requirements.
