Description
Washington County is soliciting a general contractor for Phase 1 renovation of an existing detention center. The work includes selective demolition and renovation of housing units into juvenile male and female housing areas with cells, laundry and shower facilities; renovation of the kitchen, waiting area, interview rooms, toilets, and control booth; new security doors, frames, detention hardware, windows, glazing, ceilings, and furnishings; and associated architectural, structural, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, communications, fire protection, and electronic security work. The project also includes demolition and replacement of HVAC systems, installation of a new rooftop HVAC unit, interior finishes, and related roof work. The bid requires electronic submission through the online bidding system, including the completed proposal and listed bid attachments. A bid bond or other bid security equal to 5 percent of the bid amount is required with the submission; performance and labor-and-material payment bonds equal to 100 percent of the contract price are required after award. The prime contractor must self-perform at least 15 percent of the project work, and specialty trades may be subcontracted provided that requirement is met. The bid package includes a $200,000 contingency allowance and a $5,000 dedication-plaque allowance, which the system adds to the bid.
