Description
Jefferson County, Missouri, is soliciting bids for canines approximately 18 to 30 months old, specifically German Shepherds, Dutch Shepherds, or Malinois, trained as dual-purpose narcotics and patrol canine teams. Narcotics capabilities must include passive detection of opiates, cocaine, and methamphetamine and certification to NAPWDA or IPWDA standards. Patrol capabilities include obedience, tracking, building and area searches, article searches, scent work, and controlled bite-and-hold/aggression response. The bid requests pricing for dual-purpose trained canines, handler housing during training, and untrained canines. Vendors must provide written guarantees covering hips, knees, elbows, general health for at least one year after graduation, and retraining or replacement for problems not correctable through local training. The contract term is two years with two additional one-year renewal options.
