Description
Calhoun County seeks a contractor to provide complete food services for inmates, medical staff, maintenance personnel, correctional facility staff, and approved guests. The contractor must provide three meals per day, seven days a week, along with food, supplies, staffing, on-site kitchen management, meal delivery, cleaning, sanitation, and operational continuity. The scope includes adult and juvenile menus, staff meals, medical and religious dietary accommodations, holiday meals, emergency meal supplies, and optional enhancement meals. Proposals must include meal pricing, menus, a food-service work plan, staffing and training plans, contingency and special-diet procedures, organizational qualifications and references, an officer dining program, and a transition plan. The contractor must meet applicable food-safety, nutritional, correctional-facility, security, and regulatory requirements, including maintaining a written HACCP plan and using a Michigan-licensed registered dietitian for required menu certifications and dietary analyses. The contract is stated as a five-year term beginning December 17, 2026, with two optional one-year extensions. A mandatory pre-proposal meeting and jail kitchen site inspection are required for eligibility.
