Description
Howard County, Maryland is soliciting a contractor to provide labor, equipment, snow and ice removal, and deicing services at select RTA bus stops, including adjacent sidewalks, walkways, landings, plazas, stairways, and ADA pads. Work will be performed on an as-needed, weather-dependent basis, with the County establishing stop priorities. The contractor must clear snow and built-up ice edge to edge using snow blowers, shovels, chipping, and related equipment, prevent removed snow from obstructing drainage or damaging property, and revisit cleared stops 24 hours after initial service when required. The contractor must provide Calcium Magnesium Acetate for non-roadway walking surfaces; salt is not permitted on sidewalks, stairways, landings, plazas, or walkways. The contract requires prompt response after qualifying snow events or County notification, appropriate personal protective equipment, at least five years of snow and ice removal experience, specified commercial general liability, automobile liability, and workers’ compensation insurance, and compliance with Howard County’s living-wage and business-participation requirements. The agreement is for one year with five additional one-year renewal options.
