Description
The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey is soliciting sealed electronic bids for Contract LT-234.270, Galvin Plaza Bridge Deck Replacement Via Work Order. The estimated contract value is $80 million-$90 million. Work includes replacing the bridge deck; installing protection shielding over an existing Amtrak rail line; reinforcing the existing steel structure; constructing the concrete deck; installing expansion joints and wearing course; painting; pavement markings; traffic attenuators; signage; asbestos and lead-paint removal; maintenance of traffic; work-area protection; and related work directed through engineer-issued work orders. The contract term is three years from acceptance of the contractor's bid, with work orders issued during the term potentially continuing until completed. Bidders must demonstrate at least two projects of similar size and type within the past five years and at least one project on or near a railroad requiring access coordination and rail-safety compliance; recent Amtrak experience is preferred. A $8.1 million bid bond is required, while a performance and payment bond may be required at the Authority's discretion. Contractor-provided insurance includes commercial automobile liability, lead abatement liability, railroad protective liability, and environmental liability coverage. Bids must be submitted electronically through Bonfire; mailed and hand-delivered bids are not accepted.
