Description
The Virginia Agriculture and Forestry Industries Development (AFID) Infrastructure Grant Program provides reimbursable grants primarily for capital projects that support local food production and sustainable agriculture or forestry. Eligible projects include locally owned processing facilities, commercial kitchens, packaging and labeling facilities, animal slaughtering facilities, farmers' markets, food hubs, and other agricultural aggregation facilities serving Virginia agricultural products. Projects must directly support local food production and sustainable agriculture or forestry and demonstrate a broad community benefit. Additional consideration will be given to projects benefiting multiple small-scale agricultural producers and projects located in economically distressed communities. Awardees receive a reimbursable grant under a Memorandum of Agreement; deliverables must generally be completed within two years of the award announcement, with a possible one-year extension. Completed applications must be submitted by email.
