Description
The Town of Southern Pines is soliciting informal bids for a one-block pedestrian rail crossing project connecting new work to existing Town infrastructure. The scope includes demolition, an ADA directional ramp, detectable warning domes, fiber-reinforced concrete curb and gutter, concrete sidewalk, asphalt work at the rail crossing, street signage, pavement striping, traffic control, and related labor, materials, equipment, and site restoration. The project involves work adjacent to and across CSX property and requires coordination with CSX Transportation, including rail seal installation, flagging, inspection, and compliance with CSX construction and insurance requirements. Bidders must submit the required bid form and may be required to provide major supplier and subcontractor information. The successful bidder must furnish performance and payment bonds, each equal to 100% of the bid amount, and complete the work within 120 days after issuance of the Notice to Proceed. CSX-specific insurance requirements include commercial general liability of at least $5,000,000 per occurrence, workers’ compensation and employers’ liability of at least $1,000,000, commercial automobile liability of at least $1,000,000 per occurrence, and railroad protective liability insurance of at least $5,000,000 per occurrence with a $10,000,000 annual aggregate.
