Description
The Oregon Department of Transportation is soliciting bids from prequalified prime contractors for replacement of the Union Pacific Railroad Bridge on westbound I-84 in Hood River County. The project includes extensive bridge and structural work, including drilled shafts, reinforced concrete, steel plate girders, bridge approach slabs, retaining walls, drainage, conduit, concrete rail, and related temporary access and traffic-control work. The scope also includes roadway and site work such as excavation, embankment, aggregate base, asphalt concrete paving, pavement markings, erosion control, utility and drainage installation, environmental monitoring, and removal and abatement of asbestos-containing materials. The project requires an asbestos abatement license, railroad insurance, at least 30% self-performance by the contractor's own organization, and compliance with an 8% Indian employment preference goal. The preliminary project cost range is over $30 million, and completion is specified for October 19, 2029.
