Description
This sources-sought announcement requests information on novel fibers, yarns, fabrics, coatings, and finishes for soldier protection and thermal or physical comfort. The Army is particularly interested in multifunctional materials that combine at least two capabilities, including moisture management, thermal protection or barriers, water, ice, or oil repellency, vector protection, and flame resistance. Near-term solutions should be durable to laundering and abrasion; all approaches must be PFAS-free, and near-term submissions must meet DoD human-health and dermal-contact safety requirements while avoiding cyclic siloxanes, silicones, and heavy-metal catalysts. Respondents are asked to complete the attached Appendix A, provide company and material details, Berry Amendment compliance information, safety data sheets, and a fact sheet or white paper with relevant testing data. Physical samples are also requested: fabric yardage or swatches, yarn or fiber samples, or treated NYCO fabric for coating and finish submissions. Samples will undergo destructive testing and will not be returned. This is for information gathering and planning only; it is not a solicitation and will not result in a contract award.
