Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) is offering a licensing opportunity for its Clathrate Therapeutics Platform, a novel technology designed to enhance the safety and effectiveness of therapeutic gas-based treatments. This platform enables controlled, localized delivery of gases, addressing challenges associated with systemic exposure and imprecise dosing. It is applicable across high-value markets including oncology, cardiovascular care, and regenerative medicine. The platform utilizes a proprietary, controlled-release system that temporarily stabilizes therapeutic gases within a biocompatible structure, gradually releasing them under physiological conditions for sustained and targeted exposure. This approach aims to achieve therapeutic concentrations at the intended site while minimizing systemic levels, thereby improving the safety margin and separating therapeutic effect from toxicity risk. An integrated computational modeling capability further supports treatment optimization and development efficiency. Key advantages include localized delivery, controlled release, improved safety margins, platform versatility across multiple indications, and development optimization through predictive modeling. The technology is partnership-ready for integration with drug-device combinations and existing treatment modalities. The development status is TRL 2, and a US patent is pending.
