Description
This design-bid-build construction project will renovate the welding lab in Discovery Hall, Rooms 112 and 116, at Brightpoint Community College's Chester Campus. The work includes removing existing exhaust hoods and associated ductwork; installing three owner-furnished, contractor-installed self-contained welding booths; and updating electrical and plumbing infrastructure for the new equipment. Electrical work includes new circuits, breakers, receptacles, welding equipment connections, and welding fume extractors. Plumbing work includes modifications to welding-gas and compressed-air piping, valves, drops, and quick-disconnect connections. The contractor must coordinate work in an occupied college facility, protect existing finishes and equipment, maintain fire alarm and sprinkler systems, comply with applicable Virginia construction and safety codes, and provide construction administration, testing, closeout documentation, warranties, and training. The contract is awarded on a lump-sum basis, with substantial completion required within 60 consecutive calendar days after commencement and final completion within 30 calendar days after substantial completion. A Standard Commonwealth Bid Bond on Form CO-10.2 is required regardless of bid amount.
