Description
The Springfield Water and Sewer Commission is soliciting Statements of Qualifications from General Contractors for the rehabilitation of the Cobble Mountain Unit 3 turbine generator at the Cobble Mountain Powerhouse in Westfield, Massachusetts. The project involves disassembly of all major components of the turbine and generator for cleaning, inspection, replacement, rehabilitation or overhaul, reassembly, realignment, start-up, and commissioning. The estimated construction cost is $16,500,000. This is a two-step procurement process: first, a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) to prequalify general contractors, followed by a Request for Bids (RFB) for prequalified firms. Prospective general contractors must hold a DCAMM Certification in "MECHANICAL SYSTEMS" with a single limit greater than the estimated cost. Subcontractors must hold DCAMM certifications in Painting, Plumbing, or Electrical Work. The successful respondent must be able to obtain bonding for the full construction cost.
