The Virginia Department of Transportation is soliciting bids from qualified firms to provide towing equipment and experienced drivers/operators for as-needed roadway clearing during inclement weather and emergency events, including snow, ice, hurricanes, and heavily traveled holidays. The contractor will remove inoperable vehicles that impede traffic, interfere with safe and efficient transportation-agency operations, or threaten public safety. The solicitation covers multiple Interstate 95 corridor lots in the Fredericksburg District. Required equipment includes light/conventional-duty tow vehicles or wreckers, light/conventional-duty rollback carriers, and heavy-duty tow vehicles or wreckers, with or without rotators, each operated by qualified drivers. Each required line lists 372 hours, and services include towing and storage.
