Description
The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) is seeking paper and plastic wing trap kits. These kits are essential for detecting and monitoring exotic pest infestations, which can cause significant damage if not managed early. The traps, used with attractants, help identify insect populations at various levels and are a primary tool for controlling and managing pest outbreaks. The contractor will be responsible for delivering these kits FOB destination to the USDA APHIS PPQ facility in Edinburg, Texas. The wing trap consists of a paperboard or plastic top and bottom, with a sticky interior surface on the bottom piece to capture insects and hold the lure dispenser. The trap components must be made of white, 0.24-inch thick milk carton paperboard stock with a polyethylene plastic coating. The adhesive used must be either "Stickem Special" or "High Tack Formula" by Seabright Enterprises, LTD, or "Tangle Trap" by Contech Enterprises Inc. The sticky coating should be applied uniformly, with approximately 7.5 grams per bottom piece. The kits also include two cylindrical plastic spacers and a 16-gauge wire hanger approximately 34 inches long. Optional components such as plastic tops and additional trap bottoms (liners) may also be ordered separately. The kits must be capable of withstanding outdoor weather for 90 calendar days. Packaging must be adequate to protect the contents during shipping, with boxes not exceeding 20 pounds and capable of stacking to a height of 60 inches. Delivery is required within 45 days after receipt of order.
